Review: Kathryn Lewsey

With nails and brows fast becoming two of the most popular areas to groom in the beauty world, it made sense for somewhere to combine the pair. And that’s exactly what the aptly named Nails and Brows has done.

Brow expert Sherrille Riley is behind the concept, which aims to provide high standard services and a personalised approach to treatments.

Based in Mayfair, this cute, pristine, white building is the perfect place to indulge in some R and R. Its chic decor and beautiful window display of fresh blooms creates an immaculate atmosphere of professionalism and luxury.

I was greeted by the friendly receptionist and offered led upstairs to the brow area, where I met my therapist. We discussed my current brows and what I wanted – a natural shape and slight tint to them. Personalizing the process to meet my face shape, the length of my brows were measured to ensure the ends and arches were all in the correct place.

Firstly, a medium brown dye was applied to my brows for tint. After ten minutes of developing, this was then removed and the shaping and styling kicked off. Threading my brows with precision and perfection, I was left with a strong arch and subtle hint of colour. My therapist tweezed away any stray strands and finished things off with a pencil to define her handiwork.

Moving downstairs, I settled down by the nail bar to try out the salon’s latest treatment, the Kure Bazaar Organic Manicure. Unlike many nail polishes, Kure Bazaar’s formula is 85% of natural ingredients and is eco-friendly. Brazilian model Kartika Luyet created the brand when she was pregnant and realised there wasn’t a varnish on the market that was free from harmful chemicals but equally chip-resistant.

After removing my embarrassingly chipped polish, my talons were filed, shaped and buffed into a healthy, shiny finish. Next, my hands were treated to a gorgeous mask from the brand. Encased in gloves, this avocado and aloe vera blend works to hydrate and smooth the skin and required no water! Green & Spring’s Miracle Nurturing Balm was then gently massaged into my hands, to keep them nourished and in tip-top condition.

Once my nails were preened and pampered, the manicure reached the most exciting stage– the polish! I opted for shade Phenomenal – a pretty mauve hue. My therapist expertly applied a base coat, before two coats of my chosen colour and a top coat for a long-lasting finish.

Walking out with my new brows and talons, I was extremely impressed with both treatments and the impeccable service this boutique offers. Whether it’s a brow-makeover you want or simply an indulgent manicure after a long week, this place is more than worth the visit.
