Get the Look: A/W’13 Gothic-Chic Trend

This may be a daunting look for some to try, but we feel there is nothing chicer and more striking than the translucent skin and romantic eyes that were presented at the Oscar de la Renta show! For a wearable take on this head-turning look, follow G&G’s simple steps to do so…

main

Hydrate your skin:

To begin with, you want a product that creates a soft and supple base so your skin’s easier to work with. We recommend Crème de La Mer Moisturiser (£105) as it replenishes moisture and instantly gives your skin a youthfully radiant glow!

Hide Away:

A flawless start sets you up for how you wish to go on, so cover any imperfections and dark circles with Smashbox Vitamin E infused concealer stick (£17). Keep skin looking fresh by only applying to troubled areas and blend in with fingertips.

Morning Dewdrops:

Translucent dewy skin was all the rage on the catwalks, with models at Alex & Olivia and Gucci shows perfecting the look! To light up your skin, try Stila Illuminating Liquid Foundation (£25). Its lightweight formula is enriched with tiny light-reflecting particles to give a silky picturesque finish! We recommend the lighter shades, such as #10 Watt for a truly Gothic edge.

Highlight and Contour:

Sharp features and a powerful structure is what Gothic-chic is all about. The best way to do this is by defining your cheekbones, brow bones and by skimming the highlighter down the bridge of your nose. Use Tom Ford Illuminating Highlight Pen (£40) to transform dull tired skin into a fresh youthful complexion!

Delivigne Brows:

The brushed up statement brow is the best way to transform your entire look in an instant! If you want to stand-out, try MAC Eye Brows (£13) as the streamlined tool confidently adds shade, colour and density to achieve eyebrows of the catwalk.

Creamy and Cool:

Bobbi Brown’s Long-Wear Cream Shadow #Beach Bronze (£18.50) is a velvety smooth cream that doesn’t crease or smudge as the day goes on! To create a sheer finish, apply with your fingertips and blend! If you want a more dramatic eye, blend over the brow bone ensuring that each eye has the same amount of coverage!

A Dark Finish:

Make sure your look is dark and mysterious by adding a touch of Guerlain Loose Powder Eyeshadow #Bronze (£20.50) to the inner corners of your eyes. The pearly loose powder will give a subtle metallic effect which you’ll love and will help you to put the chic in Gothic-chic!

On Trend Pout:

To finish this look, we recommend that you use Shiseido Luminizing Lip #Brown Sugar and focus the wand on the middle of your cupids bow to achieve the illusion of fuller lips! A little goes a long way to achieve natural looking wine-stained lips!
