The iconic Aveda brand is loved and lusted over by many beauty fanatics and I was over the moon when recently invited to review their Institute Salon, based in Holborn. Aveda prides itself on producing gorgeous natural and eco-friendly products, so it’s reassuring to know what you are really applying to your skin and hair.
The salon itself is huge, bright and deliciously fresh smelling, with the addition of its own cafe. The reception area also has a shop section, where you can purchase any of the Aveda products, along with a number of consultants on hand to help you with any queries. However, this was no time for shopping, I was here to have my dreary locks coloured and revitalised.
My hair colourist’s clear expertise meant I that truly trusted her opinion and I was pleased as she took me through my colour consultation and decided the best shade. My hair was a fading brown, so we decided to opt for a warmer tone, with the addition of some subtle lowlights. The dye was then carefully applied to my hair, while I relaxed with some magazines and a delicious Aveda peppermint tea. As the colour developed, I received a calming hand massage from one of Aveda’s salon staff, which, as you would imagine, is a great way to make time pass. After a standard thirty minutes of waiting time, the additional lowlights were added for a further ten minutes.
I was next led to a calm and relaxing room that was aligned with an array of professional hair washing sinks. The colour was rinsed from my hair and a wonderful gloss treatment was massaged into my scalp. Aveda’s gloss treatment is designed to enhance hair colour and leave it looking shiny and healthy, which it certainly did in the end result!
When my soothing time in the designated hair washing room was up, I was taken out to receive the trademark Aveda blow dry. True effort and care was demonstrated throughout the process and I was left with a professionally styled finish.
My Aveda experience was a true treat, turning my hair from drab to fab in just a few hours. I was ecstatic with my new colour and its glossy and healthy-looking appearance. I was also given a selection of their Colour Conserve range, meaning my colour will be locked in to last even longer. For fantastic service, knowledgeable staff and amazing results, I thoroughly recommend dropping by at Aveda.
