Review: Kathryn Lewsey

Finding time for a spot of pampering can be tricky for anyone, which is why Blush and Blow has become our new favourite place to head when we’re seeking a bit of TLC.

Offering everything from immaculate blowdrys to flawless spray tans, this one-stop-shop has everything a girl could possibly need when she needs to glam it up.

Founded by make-up artist Bridget O’Keefe, this Fulham-based salon ticks all the boxes with its extensive treatment menu and uber girly setting. Featuring a chic striped shop front, luxurious regal armchairs and pretty interiors, its Instagram-worthy decor alone is a reason to visit.

But aside from its beauty blogger style image, the services are also excellent. I stopped by for a blowdry and mani combo and was impressed by both the speediness and superb results.

After being offered a drink (I opted for a green tea), I was led over to the back room where my hair was washed. The lovely Debbie gently cleansed and conditioned my locks, before taking me through back to the main area. Here, I sat down at a manicure table, to get both my talons and barnet tended to.

While Debbie brushed through my strands and applied some products – including the incredible Unite Seven Seconds Conditioner Spray – Rebecca got to work on my nails. Once removing my shamefully chipped polish, she expertly tidied up my cuticles and filed them into a neat, rounded shape.

Next, my talons were buffed and treated to a drop of cuticle oil to help restore their strength and general condition. They  were then given a coating of that all important base polish, before two layers of my chosen coral Essie shade and a protecting top coat.

Throughout this, Debbie showed off her styling skills by drying my mane into a big and bouncy shape. My hair was then pinned up to help set the curls and ensure a long-lasting blowdry. Five minutes later, my strands were gently release and spritzed my glossy Made In Chelsea-worthy curls with a touch of hairspray.

In total, my two treatments combined took just 45 minutes – there’s no chance of wasting your Saturday in a hairdresser’s seat here! And despite the fast process, it didn’t feel like it was rushed or half-heartedly done. My hair managed to last for three days (dry shampoo is my BFF) and the mani didn’t chip until the fifth day.

For a friendly atmosphere, speedy treatments and a place that does it all under one roof, Blush and Blow is your answer.
