Salon Review: FOUR London, Mayfair, London

FOUR Outside closed modReview: Kathryn Lewsey

Ahead of the party season, I was seeking a colour change in the hair department and was lucky enough to be invited to experience the services at hair salon, FOUR.

FOUR is a salon that was set up by four (hence the name) hair colour experts who collectively have an astounding forty years’ experience in the barnet biz. All four women were previously at Jo Hansford, where they met and decided to set up their own salon – so rest assured, their knowledge and expertise meant I was in safe hands.

As well offering colouring and cutting, the salon also does hair extensions and beauty treatments, including manicures, waxes and brow grooming.

I was here today to sample the salon’s colour service and as soon I stepped into the bustling salon, I receive a warm welcome (in the literal sense too – as it was freezing outside!). Despite it being a Tuesday afternoon, the salon was very busy, but this didn’t affect my experience at all.

The sleek modern and monochrome décor is what you’d typically expect of a swanky London salon, but unlike some other hair salons in the area, all the staff were super friendly and made you feel at ease.

Led upstairs, I met co-owner Maleeka, who would be doing my locks. After receiving a delicious cup of tea, we sat down to discuss what I wanted. Maleeka handed me a tablet, which featured galleries of different type of hair hues, so we were both visually on the same page. As it’s sometimes hard to explain exactly what you want to your hairdresser, this was the best way to ensure we had the same idea in mind and I wouln’t walk away with a disappointing finish.

My hair was in serious need of a makeover and had some pretty awful roots. Discussing with Maleeka, we decided to go for a slightly darker tint all over for the winter months, as well as adding a few golden highlights through the strands.

I relaxed with a few magazines while the tint was applied to my locks and given ten minutes to develop. Maleeka then returned to expertly apply the golden hue through my barnet, which was then left to work its magic.

Once the time was up, Maleeka removed all of the foils to ensure the colour had really taken to my hair. Happy with the progress, the colour was rinsed out and a deep conditioning mask was also applied to help nourish my dry ends and inject back that all-important shine.

Maleeka then led me back to my chair and quickly blasted dry my new mane to check that I was happy with the colour it had gone – and of course, I was! It was then styled into a classic glam and bouncy blowdry.

I was left with locks that were back to their best, with a gorgeous, bold colour and healthy glossy finish. To top it all off, a friendly welcoming and skilful service meant I was made up with my FOUR visit.
