Newly opened in Fulham, I was very excited to pay a visit to , a new salon offering everything from nails and spray tans to haircuts and colour.
Steering well away from the standard salon look that seems to be just about everywhere nowadays; La Durbin has a chic French vintage style layout, with a personal, intimate feel. Elegant leather chairs are set in front of gorgeous French mirrors and products are held in dainty display cabinets. Images of iconic Hollywood stars such as Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe grace the walls, working perfectly with the settings of this stylish salon.
After receiving a delicious Latte, I settled down with the lovely Chardnay to discuss what I was looking to do with my hair. Her expert knowledge quickly put me at ease as we poured over the colour book and eventually decided on a rich brown shade.
While waiting for the colour to develop, I had a chat with Latifa Durbin, the owner and the manager of the salon. Latifa welcomed me warmly into her salon and spoke to me about her impressive hairdressing experience and how it had always been her dream to open her own salon. I gained an insight into the hard work and efforts behind La Durbin and how Latifa had sourced the furniture from places as far as Brighton and France. It was clear to see just how much attention to detail had gone into perfecting it.
I was then taken to the super comfortable hair washing area, where I relaxed on a massage chair while my tresses were rinsed. Chardnay then trimmed my locks so they were healthy and conditioned, before blow drying my hair into a glam bundle of curls and volume.
The friendly atmosphere that La Durbin has makes it truly unique from any other salon; it is almost as if you’ve popped to your friend’s house for a gossip and girly catch up. Yet it also manages to demonstrate its professionalism and hair wisdom at the same time. I walked out feeling pleased with my lovely new hairstyle and it is most definitely a place that I plan on returning to.
