Salon Review: Rush Salon, Baker Street, London

Fed up with my damaged and split-end tresses, I recently made a trip to Rush in Baker Street for barnet booster.
Rush is a go-to place for hair in London and the South-East, boasting over a whopping seventy salons and award-winning hairdressers. And it goes without saying that the Baker Street salon is no exception, offering professionalism and affordable luxury for your locks.
Escaping the freezing weather, I was warmly greeted and given a cup of tea upon arrival. Chic and modern, the monochrome interior and spacious, open-plan feel of the salon gives it a stylish touch. Yet unlike some hairdressers, the staff were friendly and welcoming.I was booked in with the super-talented Jamie Benny, who just last year bagged the title of British Newcomer at the British Hairdressing Awards 2014. Feeling in extremely safe hands, I talked Jamie through my hair woes, explaining that I was suffering from dry, knotted ends and needed a colour revival.
Having returned from a summer abroad, my hair was way blonder in some areas than in others, but I still wanted to stick to my natural, balayage look. Understanding exactly what I wanted, Jamie applied the balayage technique to my strands, expertly and strategically placing the dye for a sunkissed effect. I was then left to relax with some mags while it developed – which took a speedily twenty minutes to do so! Next, I was led over to a comfortable sink area, where the product was rinsed out. As my tresses were so damaged – but I wasn’t keen on parting with too much of the length – a nourishing Kérastase protein treatment was applied. Taking ten minutes to work its magic, the intensively moisturising mask boosted my strands to help lock in shine and smoothness.
Once this had been rinsed out and my barnet has been washed, I was led back over the main area of the salon for a good old trim. Proving that he’d listened to my protests over the length, Jamie made sure to not chop off too much of the length and helped to create a shape that framed my face.
Last, but definitely not least, my newly cut, newly coloured, hair was styled into a big, glossy and bouncy blowdry. Thrilled with the results, I walked out of Rush feeling extremely happy with my ‘do.
