Salon Review: The House of Rush, Mayfair, London

about

Review: Kathryn Lewsey

Located in glamorous Mayfair , The House of Rush fits in perfectly with its luxurious surroundings. Opening this year as Rush hair’s flagship salon, it boasts professionalism and expertise, offering an array of hair treatments as well as its own beauty area.

I recently visited The House of Rush for a hair colour, wishing to swap my chocolate brown locks for a lighter shade. Upon entering, I was greeted and directed upstairs, where I had my coat taken and a range of drinks offered to me.

After settling in, I met the lovely Serafina who was booked in to work her magic on my tresses. We chatted about what I wanted to do with my hair and poured over a book of tones and shades before choosing the right one for me. Serafina then outlined how this would be done and explained that as my hair had endured a number of dyes and colours over the years, it would be best to colour cleanse it first.

I was led into a separate room of sinks, comfortable chairs and relaxing music where I sat down to have a colour cleanser applied. This peaceful area is perfect for unwinding and you instantly forget that you’re in the middle of London, particularly due to the brilliant massaging chairs.

Once all previous colours had been removed, the chosen dye was applied and I relaxed with some magazines while the product developed. I was then taken back to the sink for a thorough hair wash, as well as a gorgeous treatment to revitalise and repair my hair.

Finally, Serafina blow dried my hair into a sleek, voluminous shape and finished the look with a touch of Shu Uemura Volume Maker- an amazing powder that you dust on to hair for body and texture. I was also given a quick tour around the beauty salon, which was a modern and chic oasis ideal for pampering and preening.

I left the impressively elegant The House of Rush with newly coloured locks and shiny, healthy looking hair.
