Review Mary Foulds

Overlooking Chester racecourse, this sleek city centre hotel is a modern hub for shopping or sightseeing city breaks. With four types of rooms and suites ranging from ‘comfortable’ to ‘most fabulous’, you can be assured of a chic and luxurious space to rest your head. Pay a visit to the 5th floor Abode Bar, where you can sip cocktails in style. Make sure you book a table at The Brasserie restaurant where the all day menus offer a contemporary take on classic dishes and mouthwatering plats du jour.

We were bedding down for the night in the plush Ormond suite on the 6th Floor. This destination suite had a stunning view across Chester Race Course and was super spacious with fabulous fittings, air-conditioning, surround sound TV and a super king size bed with the plumpest of pillows. The free standing roll top bath and monsoon shower and fluffy slippers and robes add a touch of city spa-chic.

We had a pre dinner drink in the downstairs bar which was well stocked with a wide selection of wines, spirits, beers and an interesting cocktail menu. The bar staff were very welcoming and friendly and happy to discuss our preferred beer and gins. We then headed to the 5th Floor Brassiere Abode Bar where we sipped on champagne before taking our table in the Brasserie Restaurant.  Our table had a fantastic view across the racecourse from the floor to ceiling windows – definitely a table with a view.

Starters of delicious salt-baked beetroot and a prawn cocktail were followed by roasted cod loin for me an grilled rump steak – were accompanied by a bottle of crisp Chilean Vellas Sauvignon Blanc. Throughout our meal staff were exceptionally attentive and friendly especially the our allocated waitress who happily engaged in some interesting conversation about the summer race meetings!  The dishes excellent and we could not resist finishing with the sticky toffee pudding and raspberry baked Alaska.
There was a lovely atmosphere in the restaurant with relaxed dining and very helpful engaging staff all contributing to an enjoyable evening.

Would we stay at Adobe Chester again? Absolutely. This sleek city centre hotel, with great dining, a plush cocktail bar selection of unique and opulent suites has to be one of the best places to stay when visiting Chester.
