This contemporary 4*hotel is situated in a lovely location on Liverpool’s famous Kings Dock, right next door is the Echo Arena and Liverpool ACC with a multi storey car park opposite – great for parking and only a short walk from the centre of the city. All the 216 bedrooms boast complimentary 5G Wi-Fi, Sky and BT Sports. An entire floor is dedicated to the executive rooms, all of which offer an exclusive lounge access.

Inside was beautiful very open and spacious, as we entered the hotel we were met by uniformed staff who directed us to a booth to be checked in with mobile I Pads, all very high tech. Receptionist Mark checked us in and he was friendly and helpful. Our contemporary Superior Room was on the 7th floor overlooking the dock with a large floor to ceiling window giving stretching views over the city, with another window to the left with a perfect view of the Ferris wheel. We loved the large king sized bed with large pictures of the Docks above the headboard giving a nod to the location of the hotel. The remote control for the large 55” TV was an iPad and offered movies on demand, Sky Sports, 84 TV channels, an impressive entertainment programme. The bathroom featured sleek, dark wall tiles with a large circle light up mirror that created great mood lighting. The luxurious fluffy bathrobes, Co.Bigalow toiletries and vanity sets complimented this modern bathroom.

After an afternoon sightseeing in Liverpool we were looking forward to dining in the WHEELERS OF ST JAMES OYSTER BAR, Wheeler’s restaurant dates back to 1856 and is one of the most renowned names in seafood cuisine which here has been given a modern update with the traditional recipes re-worked to produce a distinct focus on a fish bar & grill style, international menu. A sleek, modern space with industrial style fixtures (a homage to Liverpool’s industrial roots), with a surprising cosy and inviting atmosphere and the table lamps with candles creating quite a romantic vibe.

Following an evening of great dining (Paul, our waiter was fantastic), relaxation and an amazing sleep, we made our way down to breakfast, again this was served in the Wheelers Restaurant the buffet-style selection for the Continental breakfast was vast, and the al a carte menu featured a brilliant full English breakfast accompanied by toast and preserves – it was great to sit and while away our last peaceful hour prior to returning to the hustle and bustle cultural hub of one of the North’s greatest cities!
