Beauty Trend: Get the Look – Shine Drenched Hair

We feel that the hottest AW13 hair trend has to be the wet-look. It’s easy to do and versatile due to the array of styles and products you can choose from to achieve the look! It’s the perfect trend for busy women who just about have time to ‘shower-and-go’ as it still looks casually chic, but with a messy undone twist. Here’s our favourite two ways to get the look!

new1getthelook

Shine On: For both looks start with Bumble and bumble Let it Shine Shampoo (£18.50) and Conditioner (£20). The formula works to boost shine by preserving your hairs natural oils; as well as brightening, smoothing and getting rid of any wispy flyaways! What a way to start!

Look 1: PRADA’s Just Run out the Door Wet Look

Au Natural: Use a wide tooth comb to give yourself a strong side parting. If you have time, let your hair dry naturally. This trend looks more undone and messy when un-styled, making hair easier to work with. How nice to find a style that doesn’t require heat technology – (your hair will thank us later)!

Just Like the Catwalk: If you’re looking to achieve a wetter than wet look, Redken’s Shaterproof Shine Diamond Oil (Available from Sept – £31.99) is definitely the product for you. Its innovative formula comprises of 99% natural oils which strengthen and add shine to hair. It’s no wonder the product was used in over 30 of the biggest international runway shows for AW13! However, if you want a more subtle look you can simply use less of the product and still be on-trend.

Backstage guru, Guido Paulo explained: “For a more wearable look, it’s more about giving hair a vinyleque appearance – it’s a tougher look than just gloss. Way more modern and fresh and will make hair oils a staple in every woman’s beauty regime in the same way that dry shampoo has taken off”.

Add Style and Structure: After dousing your hair from root to tip, run your fingers through your hair and twizzle random strands for a messier look. Another option is to focus on the roots by adding more product to this area, then slick back behind ears. Leave the ends to do as they please or slightly scrunch your hair if it has a wave to it.

Finishing Touch: Shockwaves & Silvikrin Style Director Michael Douglas explains how he completes the look: “This style can work on any length of hair but longer hair may be harder to keep in place. If you want to achieve this look all day long, I suggest using a shine hairspray such as the Silvikrin Dual-Benefit Brilliance Shine and Hold Hairspray!” (£3.49)

Look 2: GUCCI’s Sleek Pony

Treat your hair: Every girl should pamper her locks at least once a week with a conditioning treatment to repair any damage caused from over-styling and UV exposure from those days in the sun. Multi-tasking Ojon Rare Deep Blend Conditioner (£29) blends seven oils and three butters to keep your hair hydrated and smooth. Leave on for 3 -5 minutes and then rinse for hair that instantly feels healthier and more manageable.

Turn up the Heat: If you want maximum protection at a bargain, opt for L’oreal Studio Silk and Gloss Hot Straight Cream (£3.69). This popular little beauty-buy has a thermal defence to prevent split ends and also works to eradicate frizz for up to 48 hours!  For sleekest results, spritz over towel-dried hair before styling.

Collect Them All: A new electrical range is available from September which we just can’t wait to get our hands on! The Sassoon Infra Radiance Collection combines infrared heat with heated air flow for speed and efficiency when styling! The result is smoother, more moisturised hair compared to the damage other heated-electricals might cause. Firstly, blast hair with the Infra Radiance Dryer (£49.99) and then split your hair into small sections and use Infra Radiance Straighteners (£59.99) from root to tip! There’s no doubt that your hair will look hot, not frazzled, which will help achieve this look with triumph!

Scrape it Back:  Once hair is sleek and straight, brush back using a metal comb and apply a generous amount of Phomollient Styling Foam (£14) to eradicate any lumps and bumps and to ensure super sleekness and shine. The honey-infused formula holds shape but does not weigh hair down, making it the most desirable of products for this look! Don’t apply foam to the ends of your hair as you merely want the roots to look wet. Tightly tie into a mid-pony.

Don’t Neglect the Ends: We’ve informed you on how to get glossy roots, but ends –especially if a little uncontrollable or frizzy – need attention too! Apply a pea-sized amount of Amargan Hair Therapy Oil (£29.95) and be satisfied with how the non- greasy formula makes ends soft and smooth, with extra sheen!

Hold it Down: For this look, you want a hairspray that coats hair without making it crunchy. We recommend Phyto Phytolaque Soie Hairspray (£11) as its lightweight and in a small transportable bottle – perfect to pop in your handbag for touch-ups!  The formula is enriched with silk amino acids to nourish and protect, and olive oil to keep hair super soft and shiny. Overall a great finishing product for this hot trend!
