New York Fashion Week: Victoria Beckham S/S’14

Since she unveiled her first collection, Victoria Beckham has creatively moved on in a way we would have never initially expected. Moving away from her signature pencil shaped dresses showing the shape of the body underneath; Victoria has started to focus on creating unique shapes with clothing rather than revealing the shape underneath.

Her Spring Summer 2014 collection has a perfectly crisp and fresh approach to it revealing chic wearable clothing with a sporty edge that we can’t get enough of! Following the monochrome trend we have already seen so much of so early into fashion month, she brings a personal twist into the mix with splashes of maroon and hot pink. Organza details on collared shirts teamed with bomber style jackets and knee length loose shorts created an urban yet smart boy-meets-girl feel – an all new look portrayed by Beckham.

Playing with proportions was a clear theme within her collection with a  range of slinky drop waist dresses with elegant straps in knee lengths to her more signature style fit and flare mini dresses with thick crossover straps and peeking ruffles. Completely different styles and audiences yet they worked so well together. With a graphical feel brought into the mix by the triangular and square panels worked into organza, an overall clean feel was predominant.

When asked about how this collection was different to her she stated:

“I like to challenge myself every season,” she explained. “I want to wear everything, I’m so proud of it.”

And so she should be. We’re more than certain that this fresh and edgy approach to brand Beckham will prove just as popular to her fashion following.
