Salon Review: Brooks & Brooks, Holborn, London
Located right in the middle of the vibrant Sicilian Avenue in Holborn; Brooks & Brooks is a bespoke hair boutique offering versatile cuts and colours from an array of passionate, talented, hair stylists.
I arrived in the sweltering heat one Tuesday evening to a warm greeting and some much needed ice cold water. Spread over 90 square feet, the salon was bright and airy with a relaxed atmosphere.
The delightful Jade was set to work her magic on my barnet and we began with a brief consultation. I explained how I wanted to keep my brown locks quite light (which had already started to happen thanks to the hot sun) and also that I was trying to grow my hair, so would like a healthy chop rather than a complete restyle. Jade suggested running some golden lowlights through my hair and colouring the rest of my hair with a shade close to my natural hue.
Happy with the decision, I relaxed with a selection of magazines while Jade set to work on my tresses by expertly applying the perfectly mixed colour on to my hair. Once the colour had developed, a ten-minute toner was massaged in; this helped to remove any brassiness from my hair.
After all colour had been rinsed, I was led back to the work station where Jade snipped away the dead ends and reshaped my style. It was then blow dried in to a soft, bouncy style gleaming with healthy shine.
Brooks & Brooks is the proud three times winner of London Hairdresser of the Year and Mens Hairdresser of the Year, and it’s not difficult to see why. Professionalism was constantly present throughout my visit and all staff possess an extensive knowledge of hair. I walked away feeling extremely pleased with my freshly colored and cut locks.
