Salon Review: Nicky Clarke, Leeds

Tucked away in the Queens Arcade, Leeds is the Nicky Clarke salon; the hub for all your hair needs. Up an elegant spiral staircase is a beautifully decked out salon with modish interiors to set the perfect mood for your perfect new do.

Greeted by the ever-so friendly staff, I met with Maria to discuss my cut. With my ends looking a little worse for wear, and my fine hair edging on lifeless, I was in need of a major tidy up in the hair department. Instantly Maria knew exactly what needed to be done to make the most out of my lacklustre hair.

After a quick shampoo and fabulous head massage Maria began to cut away, to create a style ideal for my hair type. I’ve been trying to grow my hair for a while now, so keeping as much of my length as possible was top of my list. I’m sure plenty can relate when I say that a few too many times I’ve been for a ‘trim’ at a salon, and have left with a little more length missing than I’d first hoped. However, Maria trimmed my ends to create a blunt effect and added in some soft layers, leaving me with a length I was more than happy with. My hair was quickly looking much thicker, and full of body. She also added in some fantastic products before my blow dry to create lasting volume and texture. After blow drying, Maria then rubbed some Nicky Clarke Tease Me, volumising dust into my roots, which is going to promptly become my new handbag essential. For someone with fine and flat hair I’ve spent years trying to pump up the volume, and I have just found my saviour in this little bottle!

After a windy walk home, my hair was still looking lovely; a sure sign of a great blow dry. There’s not one reason why i wouldn’t recommend the Nicky Clarke Salon for your next hair venture; it’s warm and welcoming, with a great,  relaxed atmosphere, but most of all, they sure do know how to cut hair!
