The Hotel Review: Media Rotana Hotel | Dubai | UAE

Writer: Yolanda McGinnis

The 5* hotel, Media Rotana, has 537 guest rooms all of which are contemporary with a luxury feel. The airport is a 30-minute drive away with the City Metro Station just a 10-minute walk, there is also a free shuttle bus to the shopping venues and beaches.

As we arrived, a uniformed member of staff opened the door to all guests, we thought this was a great touch with the same level of positive customer service throughout our stay, nothing was too much trouble, and it was great to walk into the cool air-conditioned impressive lobby area, with its’ huge chandeliers, brown leather sofas and marble floor. Our check-in was faultless, quick and very welcoming and fully briefed us on the amenities available.

Our room was a Classic Suite, quite large at 57sqm, with a King sized bed and separate living room with a sofa and coffee table. Facilities included TV, complimentary wifi, a safe, minibar and tea and coffee making facilities, bathrobe and hairdryer.

There are lots of choices for eating and drinking at this hotel such as Channels International Cuisine, Nelson’s English Pub Grub, The Terrace Outdoor Lounge, Bar Connexions Lobby Lounge and Prego’s the Italian Restaurant. We chose to dine in Prego’s Italian, a clean modern restaurant with attentive staff. The meal was lovely with lots of choice on the menu, we can certainly recommend the mix fried seafood with pears and apple with tartar sauce, the grilled beef tenderloin and porcini mushrooms with red wine and juniper berries reduction, roasted potatoes and crispy pancetta. For dessert, the white chocolate mousse with warm Nutella heart was superb. Finishing off with a coffee and the recommended speciality gin and tonic, which was infused with Rosemary and the tonic was flavoured with elderflower, this was beautifully presented.  We sat at the chic outdoor terrace and lounge bar, a cosmopolitan space which had a lively vibe.
