So spring is here and we are finally being given a taster of our old friend the sunshine – about time right?! Too many times I have visited salons and asked for a lift of my balayage to a brighter blonde, only to feel that I leave with an all too ‘natural’ look. We all know that bleaching your hair isn’t great for condition but let’s face it, you can’t beat the blonde hues in summer time!
After visiting the new Clapham Jamie Stevens salon 48hrs prior to my appointment for a patch test, I arrived at the salon for the big day. I was very excited to be at the receiving end of award winning stylists, as Jamie Stevens has a whole host of awards including Celebrity Hairdresser Of The Year, and has worked his magic on shows including Lorraine, The X Factor, This Morning and Gok Wan’s How to Look Good Naked, among many others.
I was welcomed warmly and given a lovely latte and biscuits whilst I waited. Right on time, Nikita came to introduce herself and take me to my seat for our consultation. The gorgeous artistic director Nikita immediately put me at ease and I knew when I showed her pictures of my colour hopes and saw her lovely blonde tresses, that she just GOT IT.

She used her expert skill to apply the bleach with balayage foils, taking the colour closer to the root to give me plenty of blonde, whilst ensuring I kept my roots so regrowth just won’t be an issue. Nikita carefully applied colour to all my existing dark lower layers and after sitting under the heater the time came to wash my hair. It was hard to stay awake as Nikita used the gorgeous Matrix products to shampoo, tone and apply the ‘Ultim8’ hair treatment to my hair. A gentle head massage as my hair was conditioned was the ultimate pampering experience, and really allowed the products to deeply nourish my tresses.
I asked Nikita for a trim and she offered her advice and took an inch from my length to get rid of my split ends and take my hair up to shoulder length adding bounce and weight. Finally, a blow dry gave my newly blonde hair a sleek finish, completed with perfect waves created with straighteners. Nikita explained exactly how to recreate the look at home and how to avoid the ends to not only preserve condition but to give to chic bounce without ending up”looking like a poodle”! She even gave me her card and Instagram link and told me to contact her with any questions about maintaining my colour, when to use my purple shampoo, when to rebook for a toner and said I could send pics if I needed her to assess the colour.
I really felt like the Jamie Stevens experience was flawless from start to finish, and I am confident that the aftercare and advice will also not disappoint.
