The Apartment Review: The Hideaways Club, Kensington Gardens Penthouse, London

Review: Jennifer Bonfield

This fantastic Kensington Penthouse is a property from The Hideaways Club portfolio – a luxury property investment and travel club (member only) that allows you to stay in a luxury home from home while travelling and on holidays. There are two collections in the portfolio; City and the Classic. The City Collection features slick and totally luxe city apartments throughout the world’s biggest and best locations including Paris, New York, London, Prague, and Dubai. All are situated in prime central locations and offer a personal concierge service. The Classic Collection features an opulent and contemporary collection of luxury villas and chalets in Europe, and far-flung destinations such as South Africa, Thailand and Mauritius.

The Apartment

Location wise this Kensington property  is a winner as it’s just a 5-minute walk from the tube (High Street Kensington) and at the end of Kensington High Street, over looking Kensington Gardens, and Kensington Palace. On arrival at the property I was met by my personal concierge who welcomed me to the property on arrival with a tour of the property and all the facilities included.

The apartment, as expected, is slick in décor yet in keeping with the original features of building, and offers all mod – cons such as Nespresso machine (with an endless supply of assorted pods – lush!), food basics and even Champagne chilling in the fridge. This really is a home-from-home with literally everything you could need including a laundry room with washer, dryer (washing power/ pods and softener all there to use), an iPad and mobile phone, which is great for international travellers.

There are three large bedrooms and two bathrooms. The Master Suite comes with the amount of wardrobe space that just shouts #HomeGoals. Sleek floor to ceiling wardrobes, wooden flooring, and a lighting system so advanced it needs its own keypad on the wall. The Master en-suite bathroom features a glorious free-standing Slipper bath, walk-in double shower and ample space. Both bathrooms are kitted out with lashings of Molton Brown toiletries.

The second bathroom is just as luxe, but on a smaller scale and has a bath and shower. The third bedroom is used as a study or workout room (weights and yoga mats etc are on hand with a quick request from the concierge). This rooms can be switched into the third bedroom with double sofa bed – the concierge will do all this for you.

The lounge features period style windows offering fantastic views over the park and Palace and was decked out in coffee coloured leather sofas, armchairs and stools. A large flat screen TV hung on the wall. The living room leads through to a room with a bar and then trough to the grand dining room with a circular dining table large enough to fit around 10 people. Overall this apartment is a real luxury-entertaining hub, which is brilliant for travelling small groups, couples and friends
