Beauty Trend S/S’14: Fresh-Faced Minimalism

A look that works for all skin-tones; fresh-faced and neutral is going to be a very popular trend next spring! Apply very little or ditch the make-up bag altogether and instead let your natural beauty shine through!

A hefty amount of shows at London Fashion Week displayed the natural look to be the winning all-over face-base, including eyes, lips – the lot!  From dewy skin at JW Anderson to undetectable lips at Christopher Kane, spring will be the season for make-up lovers and ordinary girls alike to be on-trend.

JW ANDERSONJW ANDERSON S/S’14

The JW Anderson show was all about organically beautiful skin that emitted a super healthy glow! Make-up artist Lucia Pieroni explained: “It’s all a palette of taupe, mushroom, browns…earthy and very feminine”. Finished off with an extremely subtle sweep of blush, the look is very natural and positively gorgeous.

PAUL SMITHPAUL SMITH S/S’14

Models at Paul Smith had subtle sun-kissed cheekbones as opposed to blush to complement their transparent glowing skin! The most alluring part of this trend is how make-up artist, Petros Petrohilos created the summer look of freckles with Mac Lingering for bigger dots and Mac Coffee Pencil for the smaller ones! It’s not ‘you either have freckles or you don’t’ anymore; you can actually choose!

Pale & Pretty

It’s a little shocking, we know, to see so little colour on the catwalks – but it doesn’t get more chic than the porcelain skin at Barbara Casasola. Ditch the bronzer and lap up the factor 50 sun cream if you’re jetting away next year. This has to be the safest, skin-loving beauty trend, ever!

Giles added a little more colour, but kept make-up pretty much undetectable by blending the products down to nothing. The result was beautifully buffed up skin, hair and lips, which gave the models a flawless finish which was ultimately stunning! Pieroni adds: “It’s not really make-up, it’s [very] light!”

Invisi-lips

As long as it’s not cakey foundation lips, we can welcome the barely-there lip trend for S/S’14. Christopher Kane managed to make lips blend in with the models skin-tone without this happening; instead the look merged together to create a natural picturesque finish.

We loved the neutral gloss used at the Felder Felder show to fit in with their ‘mermaid-inspired’ beauty look! Very subtle but very noticeable!

The Elusive Look

With a wedding-inspired theme, Burberry married English Rose beauty with a soft ‘petal eye’. The soft burgundy eye-shadow made eyes stand out, but remained in tone with the upcoming neutral trend.

Nothing looks more beautiful in the sun than shimmery gold shades; that’s why we’re massive fans of the subtle use of eye-shadow used at the Temperley London show! Make- up artist Lisa Eldridge used a sepia shaded liner by Sunday Riley to create a neutral look that was far from overpowering. Browbones were highlighted and sculpted for a youthful feminine finish.
