Paris Fashion Week: Julien David S/S ’14

Julien David’s spring 2014 catwalk show in Paris was a great mix of creative and urban pieces. Inspired by the sea, street wear and different cultures this was definitely a show that stood out for Julien’s creativity and imagination with using different fabrics.

His show was titled ‘The Tribe of The Seven Seas’ with models wearing a different theme but water was the main theme with curved and flowing shapes in blue and bright fabrics with shells, seaweed and fishing nets used as motifs and layering.

The originality continued as the show was lit up with bright hues and oriental style jackets in hot pinks and blues and silk fabrics. But it didn’t stop there as Julien went for an eighties street vibe with hoodies, baggy sleeves and oversized sweaters. A lot of his old fashion shows have consisted of oversized clothing but he incorporated this with his sea theme.

The combination of these different themes was a little random with his other pieces but it was the imaginative shapes and use of fabrics that made this show stand out.

We love the oversized hoodies and sweaters but don’t think we’ll be wanting to copy the tulle netting that was added to some of the dresses, although its quirky and fun it’s a little too out there for us.
