Couture Week: Zuhair Murad SS14

The Zuhair Murad show took us on a wondrous walk through a mystical garden, with models covered head to toe in eye-catching floral appliqués. Everything from camellias, roses and peonies were sent sashaying down the runway, adorning shimmering gowns, jumpsuits and cocktail dresses. With all that flora, of course Murad injected plenty of fauna into the collection to add a beautiful balance to the blooming garden. There were sequins, feathers and intricate embroidery embellishing the garments, but not all was strictly couture wear, with some very welcome daywear looks in the collection. A stunning, maxi length ivory coat, fronted with a double row of gold buttons was the icing on the cake amongst the Parisian style tailoring; pencil skirt, trousers and open jackets. Guipure lace took centre stage this season for Zuhair Murad, with sheer elements emphasising the intricate beauty of the floral lace, which looked almost as it had been stitched onto the skin. Murad opted for a diluted pastel palette, with sumptuously soft colours to complement the flora. There was certainly a parade of petals at the Zuhair Murad show this time around, which we simply adored, and we know that any woman in the right mind would kill for a piece from this collection!
