Sticking to her, girly with an edge style, Simone Rocha did not disappoint with her Spring/Summer 14 show at London Fashion Week. After being awarded sponsorship from NEWGEN on more than one occasion, she has most definitely had quite a buzz surrounding her incredible talent.
Ruffles, gathers and ruching were in abundance, adding volume to full, knee-length skirts, and detailing garments, with gathered pieces of fabric draped across skirts and dresses oh-so artistically. There was a historic essence to the show, accessorising with large pearl collars and dressing the models in ruched, volumous skirts.  Pearl details embellished the collection, edging necklines, cut-outs and trimming mesh, calf-length socks. Dresses, coats, and two-pieces were given a plasticy shine, making for a very waterproof collection from Simone Rocha. Perfect for the unpredictable British weather! With primarily a monochrome palette, there were hints of textured metallics and forest green. There was a subtle seductiveness with this collection, featuring completely sheer fabrics and ruffled cut-outs, flashing just that little bit of skin. Bustier tops and silky, nightie-style dresses added to the sexiness, that was somewhat muted by the heavy fabrics and boyishly tailored pieces. Her white floral, eyeleted two-pieces were delightfully summery, which was rather a relief after the influx of coats, leather and fur, so far at Fashion Week. A charming little combo of a ruffled bustier and gathered, full skirt was quite possibly one of our favourite looks from the show, not forgetting of course the wonderful, white, oversized coat, trimmed with pearl embellishments, of course.  Finishing off the show were some, how can we say, bee-keeper look-a-likes. Draped in nude mesh, with their faces barely visible, it was reminiscent of an extrovert’s bridal veil, tied in a pretty bow at the waist. Not too sure we will be taking a trip to the haberdashery store, for a metre of nude mesh after seeing Simone Rocha’s collection, but we are most definitely on the hunt for the perfect pearl necklace, in prep for Spring/Summer 14!
