We all know what botox for the skin is, but how about hair botox? I was intrigued, too, so when I was invited to try it out at new salon, TRYO, I obviously accepted.

Located in the heart of sophisticated Marleybone, TRYO focuses on recovering hair health and offering organic, sustainable hair extensions. Its’ directed by celebrity hairstylist Bernardo Vasconcelos, who is famous in the barnet biz for his clever snipping, colouring and styling.

Bernardo’s impressive portfolio meant I had big expectations for TYRO and – spoiler – it didn’t disappoint.

Walking into the salon, my coat was taken by the friendly receptionist and I was led over to the basin to get my locks washed.

Taking in the classy interior, I was already impressed by the chic grey leather chairs and white counter tops that were lit by low-hanging sphere-shaped lights. Even the boxes of tissues perfectly matched the mushroom-hued chairs. The salon’s neutral palette made the place feel fresh, modern and elegant.

But back to the treatment. Hair botox is a deep conditioning treatment which uses a blend of nourishing ingredients that will lock in and secure the silkiest of strands. Sealing in shine, it helps to eliminate dreaded frizz and reduce hair-drying time.  And, in case you were wondering, it doesn’t involve needles!

After two thorough hair washes (and a relaxing temple massage in between) – I was led over to meet Scheyla who was applying the treatment. She meticulously worked the product through my hair, ensuring every strand was coated.

Scheyla then brought a Climazon Thermo-activator over – a heated lamp which helped to speed up the treatment development time. One cup of tea and 20 minutes of reading later, the product had done its thing and we were ready for the next step – blow-drying.

To lock in the treatment and ensure the smoothest results, Scheyla expertly dried my hair with precision, making my barnet super straight. Once it was completely dry, she then took straighteners to my hair, working the iron through small sections from root to tip, leaving my barnet sleeker than ever before.

I had to wait at least three days until I could wash my hair again – and it was worth the wait. After washing it for the first time, I couldn’t believe how much easier it was to style my barnet. It looked sleeker, shinier and glossier.

It’s now been three weeks since my treatment and the results are still fabulous. As someone who is a big sufferer of frizzy hair, I now have strands that stay smooth – even when it’s pouring with rain.

TRYO in itself is a glamorous, but friendly salon and is the perfect place to head to if you want a few hours of escapism and some serious hair TLC.
